Vinegar is more than you think. It’s cheap, handy, eco-friendly and a perfect natural disinfectant which makes it perfect for home cleaning purposes. Especially if you are into more natural cleaning products you can definitely give vinegar a try.
Washing fruit and vegetables: Vinegar is much more effective and healthier than many of the commercial products you can use to clean your food. Before cooking or serving fruits and vegetables rinse them in four tablespoons apple cider vinegar dissolved in four litres cold water. This way you can get rid of hidden dirt, insects and pesticides.
Clean plastic containers: We recommend to switch to glass food containers but it’s better to use them until they are not good anymore. To make them last longer before switching to glass containers you can clean them with white vinegar. White vinegar would remove the bad odour along with stains.
Freshen up your mattress: You have to take good care of your mattress for better and healthier night sleep. Mattress cleaning can be taking care of by professional cleaning companies but we recommend a few tricks for you to use in between mattress cleaning sessions. Make a solution with white vinegar, a splash of rubbing alcohol and a few drops of tea tree oil. Spray the mixture on the mattress and allow it to dry before making your bed.
Clean tile floors: Tile floors are the easiest floor type to clean. Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with a gallon of warm water and mop the floor. Who would need commercial products when you have vinegar?
Clean glass tables: Glass tables bring a stylish ambience into the room but it’s difficult to use because of the fingerprint marks and water spots. You can make them perfectly clean again with a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar.
Clean windows: The trick to having the brightest windows is to dry them with newspaper. To make them even better you can use a solution made of 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol and 1/3 cup white vinegar.
Clean a grill: The grill can look like a battlefield if you don’t clean it regularly. You can remove the build-up with crumpled aluminium foil sprayed with white vinegar. Scrub the grate with the aluminium.
Clean your computer: Your keyboard and mouse hold enormous amounts of germs and dirt, even more than you could imagine. It’s better to clean them regularly. But before starting make sure that your equipment is shut off. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a bucket. Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and make sure that you squeeze enough before using it for cleaning. Use cotton swabs to clean tight spaces. Dry it with another dry cloth.
Erase pen marks: If your toddler decided that colouring the walls with a ballpoint pen is a good idea don’t lose yourself. Dampen a cloth with white vinegar and scrub the area with it. Repeat the process until the marks are gone.
Clean your carpets: Too much foot traffic can damage your carpets. But you can easily revive them while cleaning them. Brush them with a clean push broom dipped in a solution of one cup white vinegar and one-gallon water. If your carpets need more than this then you can book a carpet cleaning session to let the professionals handle the situation.
Unclog the drains: The commercial products you could find in the stores for unclogging the drains contain dangerous chemicals. Instead, you can try a combination of vinegar and baking soda. Use a funnel to pour 1/2 cup baking soda followed by one cup vinegar into the drain. Wait a bit and flush with hot tap water. Flush it with cold water after another five minutes.
Using natural products for home cleaning is heavenly. What could be better than staying away from all the chemicals? Opting for a greener lifestyle is easier than it seems or you think. It’s good for you, your loved ones and for the planet.
