Laundry is an endless household chore as we all know by now. One cycle finishes another starts, there is no rest for you nor the washing machine or iron. There are a few things you can do to make laundry less of a chore and organising is on the top of the list. It doesn’t matter if your laundry room is big or small, it’s all about how you organise it.
Pedestal support: This support would give you some of the extra space you need in your laundry room. Although it isn’t as difficult as you think it still requires some calculation and careful work. Once you set up the support you will realise it’s helping your back as much as it helps store many things. As your machine is placed a bit higher you will need to bend less. The drawers placed with the support can be used to store washing supplies or dirty laundry, it’s totally up to you.
Cabinets: Even if you have pedestal supports that drawer won’t be enough for storage. But the good thing is that you will still have space to add cabinets above your washing machine. You can even combine the cabinets with a clothesline to hang a few clothes. If your laundry room is not small you can add more cabinets beside the washing machine. Organise the inside of them with baskets, you can even place your laundry basket in the cabinets.
Countertop: Adding a countertop above your washing machine can give you plenty of free space to store your washing items.
Shelves: Shelves are a good idea for the places where you can’t build cabinets. As much as it seems handy to have shelves instead of cabinets when it comes to deep cleaning it requires much more work than the cabinets as they don’t have doors.
Door rack: If your laundry room is so extremely small that only you can fit in the room then this is for you. When you have no space for shelves and cabinets in the room, a door rack would be your saviour. It’s a smart way to optimise your laundry room. It can be used for washing supplies as well as small towels, it’s absolutely up to you.
Hidden ironing board: When you don’t have enough storage space in the laundry room hiding your ironing board is a great thing. You can hang it on the wall, hide it in a drawer or in a closet. It’s dependent on what type of ironing board you choose to use. You can see how you should choose your ironing board in this post. Ironing is an unloved part of the laundry process.
