Decorating your house: After decluttering and deep cleaning why not decorate your house a bit? You don’t have to put much effort into it. Just a few easy touches would make you and your guests happy. You can combine lanterns with festive paper garlands and crescent moons for your decoration. You can also hang door wreaths to welcome your guests before you.
Preparing the feast: It’s one of those moments you spent with your loved ones around the table being thankful for everything. We found a few recipes for that table which you can quickly prepare and serve.
- Grilled halloumi and vegetables: As easy as it sounds it only takes half an hour to prepare. Slice 1 eggplant and 1 large zucchini. Cut 2 sweet red peppers in pieces. Season all with salt and pepper. Cut halloumi into 8 to 12 slabs. Brush vegetables and halloumi with olive oil. If you grill scallions as well it will take 3 to 4 minutes to be ready. For the rest, it would only take 10 minutes. Don’t forget to turn them occasionally.
- Cucumber yoghurt salad with dill, sour cherries and rose petals: This delicious salad will only take 15 minutes to prepare. Mix 2 cups thick yoghurt, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp fresh chopped dill, 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 and a half tsp dried mint in a bowl. Add 5 diced cucumbers and season with salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients well. Finish by adding dried cherries, rose petals, fresh mint and dill leaves.
- Kale tabbouleh: This one will take approximately 30 minutes to prepare. Cook 2/3 cup bulgur like you always do and let it cool down. In a bowl mix 3 tbsp lemon juice, 1 finely chopped shallot, 2 tsp ground cumin and salt. In another bowl toss together the cooled down bulgur, 1 finely chopped bunch kale, 2 large diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup torn mint leaves and 1/2 cup diced radish. Add salt and pepper. Toss dressing mix thoroughly and it’s ready.
- Minty fruit salad: To prepare this salad use stone fruit; plums, peaches, juicy cherries, apricots whatever you can find. Mix them well. Add 1/4 cup fresh orange juice, 1/4 cup fresh chopped mint leaves and 1 tbsp honey if you like. Yummy!
Serving the feast: It’s not about just cooking but also serving. Bring the feast to the table not just with your food but also presentation. Use plates shape of crescent moon and mostly stars. Place a few small lanterns on the table. You can also add place cards made by dates on each table.
Bonus: Don’t forget to get ready your outfit for tomorrow. You know how important to wear clean and neat clothes, especially for Eid. Children will be waiting for pocket money along with some candies. Don’t disappoint them! 😉
