“A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.”
It’s Father’s Day! Take your dad out and show him how grateful you are for being the guiding light in your life. Spending quality time together is what he needs from you! Here are a few ideas for you about how to spend this special day with your dad.
Spoil him with a day in spa: Spa time is not just for ladies. Book a day at the spa for your dad and spoil him with a luxurious massage. If he is a cool daddy you can make an appointment for a haircut or professional shave.
Take him for a weekend getaway: Make time for your father and take some time away with him. You can take him somewhere which is in his bucket list or a road trip somewhere near. Either way he would be more than happy just to spend time with you.
Plan a movie or sport game marathon: You can enjoy your day chatting and watching his favourite movies or sport games that you recorded for him. It’s a great way to spend the day with your old man. Prepare some snacks and get ready for the marathon!
Find a local car club near by: If your dad is a car nut, he would love to spend some time around vintage or the latest electric cars. It’s a great opportunity to bond over funny stories about cars, driving or even better about memories.
Pick a creative gift for him: Every year it gets more difficult to find a creative gift for him. Start thinking about how he spends his free time. Does he like running, sailing, traveling, reading? Whatever he likes to do on his spare time, it’s a great place to start.
Fill a need: Keeping his favourite thing in mind, look at something that would help him with it. Does he run marathons? You can buy him new running shoes, headphones for running or armband to hold his iPod. Does he like gardening? You can find padded work gloves or a pair of pants with reinforced knees for him. Does he travel a lot? Why not buy him a travel pillow, carry on luggage or travel kit?
Make it about him and not about the glory of the gift: If you can’t find anything creative to get for your father, you can give him a gift card to his favourite store. So he can pick what he wants or needs and will use it and remember you, he doesn’t need a gift to remember you though. 😉
Take him out for dinner: In our daily routine, sometime we forgot to fill in our family about our lives, our good and bad moments. Spend quality time and tell him about your life. It’s time to swap the roles and be the story teller this time. Take him out for dinner and enjoy a nice evening together.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and dad-to-bes. Enjoy your day with your loved ones.
